BRIDGES: A MUSICAL JOURNEY


A new cross-cultural collaboration album Matt recorded on early in the year has just been released by Australia based Chile musician and producer Igor Leadermann. ‘Bridges: A Musical Journey’ is an exciting new collaboration project with musicians from 21 different countries.

FLEKD EP


Flekd released their debut EP earlier this year with performances in Germany and the UK to promote the launch, including performances at the Southbank Centre and The Forge. Flekd consists of Jane South (accordion and flute), Rebecca Nash (piano), Moss Freed (guitar), Rob Patterson (double bass), and Matt Fisher (percussion).

ENTROPI PERFORMING AT THE LONDON JAZZ FESTIVAL 2015


Matt will be playing with Dee Byrne’s Entropi during the 2015 London Jazz Festival on 14th November at the Barbican Freestage. Further details can be found here. The quintet released their debut album earlier this year on F-IRE following a successful UK tour and album release at the Vortex Jazz Club. The album has received numerous rave reviews and has been featured on BBC Radio 3 (Late Junction), BBC Radio 2 (Jamie Cullum Show), Jazz FM (The Cutting Edge, The Blueprint) Jazz London Radio (Andrea Vicari’s Jazz Doodles), and many more. NAJMA AKHTAR - UPCOMING TOUR DATES AND FESTIVALS


Following on from the Rhythmtree Festival in the Isle of Wight this summer, Matt will be playing with Najma Akhtar again at the Musicport Festival and the Night of Festivals in Leicester. Matt has also been busy in the studio recording tracks for Najma’s new album due to be released next year. Najma’s new project featuring Ramon Goose, Chris Haigh and John Deemer incorporates a number of English and Irish ballads mixed with traditional and contemporary Indian styles. Najma Akhtar is a British singer and songwriter from an Indian and Pakistani heritage. She has collaborated with many world class artists, including Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Andy Summers, Basement Jaxx, Jethro Tull and Philip Glass.

JOSEPHINE ARTHUR NEW ALBUM


Matt recently played drum kit and percussion on the debut album ‘Break Free’ of London based singer Josephine Arthur. The album is available here from iTunes.





















TONY WILLIAMS - SO WHAT (1964) TRANSCRIPTION BOOK


Matt’s transcription book on Tony Williams will shortly be made available as an EPub edition. Hardcopies are still available to purchase directly from Jazzwise and Amazon. The book features for the first time a full notated transcription of Tony Williams’ drum part from So What in the Miles Davis 1964 Concert, together with an in depth analysis.

















EXAMINING TOURS


Aside from performing and recording, Matt tours around the globe as an examiner for Trinity College London. He is about to embark on a tour to South Africa, having recently examined in Malaysia, India and Dubai.
